Election and cuck

Sorry for being ignorant on this but did cuck become the word of the month due to something in the election. I understand the bigly thing but I don't know why cuck, cucked, cucking, cuckadoodledoo, cucktastrophe, etc became the word to overuse.
Obviously I'll get 8 people calling me a cuck before anyone explains but can someone tell me if this came around during the election or it's more like 4chan programming peoples' brains.

Thanks buddy. I don't know how or why people all start to talk exactly the same or overuse memes, dumb phrases, etc. It seemed like overnight everyone was now a cuck.
