If you look at the roster you’ll find this isn’t true. They’re recruiting against the other teams that pull in the top players. Scum and PSU? Sometimes but if they do it’s for an elite kid in THEIR state, not ours. The other Midwest and northeast schools? Not really at all.

At least 75% of their roster is made up of players from Ohio, Maryland, NJ, with a handful from NY, Indiana, Michigan, and Illinois.

OSU recruits nationally, but the bulk of their recruits are from the Midwest and Atlantic states.

Everyone recruits the mid Atlantic though.

Saw this on Twitter

quote:

Ohio State has seven* 5-star commits out of Texas since 2017.
Texas has four.

The fact that they can roll off their nfl roster is what gets recruits

It's all about, will I play and can you get me to the NFL with tons of exposure.

It's like the old days, kids would go to Notre Dame because they were the only team on National television.

Fans care way more about playoffs and MNCs than the players do...they just want to make the league and buy Mama a house.

I counted 41 scholarship players from states other than those you listed. That’s nearly 50% of the roster and yeah, everyone recruits the mid-Atlantic region. If you want to count Ohio walk-ons then your number is closer to being accurate.

The DMV area is a hotly contested area. OSU recruits it a lot, so does Alabama and LSU.

Maryland hiring Locksley was all about getting some of that talent.

Unfortunately for y'all, California is seeing an exodus as well. Who would've thought CA kids would be be lining up to go to play in the South or Midwest?

Ohio State now holds equally as many top-50 commitments in the 2022 cycle as the rest of the nation combined.

•The Buckeyes: 5 (Quinn Ewers, Caleb Burton, Gabe Powers, CJ Hicks, Dasan McCullough)
•The rest of college football: 5

Nobody else has more than one top-50 commitment

And I know it’s very early in that cycle.

The school offers as much as anyone in a lot of different areas.

Very good school
Huge alumni base
National title contender annually
Blue blood
NFL superstars at almost every position
Young dynamic coach who kids want to play for
Continued emphasis on preparing kids for life after school whether in the NFL or in the corporate world through real life Wednesday’s which parents love

Just gotta remind grown men it's illegal to sell your own belongings in exchange for tattoos. You can't barter and stay eligible because you don't fully own what is given to you until you graduate Ink > Gold

I just realized that Ryan Day is only seven years older than Brian Hartline

I hope Hartline stays for a while. Phenomenal recruiter and the wide receiver room has never been deeper or more productive.

Buckeyes are about to have a WR pipeline unlike anything they’ve ever had. Hartline is ridiculous.

I mean, it's already loaded. But if they add Egbuka, Harrison Jr.(already committed), Burton, etc. It'd be filthy.
