Golf GPS Watch

I've used Garmin for years and liked it. I recently switched to apple watch using The Grint. The app on the phone shows everything while the watch displays front back middle. There are a bunch of apps for apple, not all of them are good. Garmin will give you reliable yardages, but not a lot of frills. There are only a few Garmin watches that have other functions than just a golf watch, so do your homework based on what you want the watch to do. If you want just the golf watch, I would go old school with a hand held device that gives yardages.

I have a GPS watch that my wife got me for Christmas. I wouldn't have purchased one myself and contemplated swapping it out for something else, but I've really enjoyed it.

Mine is the Garmin S20. It's relatively inexpensive. Shows the front, back and center, shows the various bunkers and hazards to the front and back, and it keeps score (which is the function I probably like the most).

I have a rangefinder too, but sometimes it's easier to just look at the watch. Especially when I'm not playing a serious round, knowing the center of the green is more than sufficient. It also let's me know where the pin is on the green if I use both the watch and rangefinder. I can figure out the pin is 122 and the back of the green is 126. That's very helpful information.

I’ve got the garmin approach S60. It gives you distances obviously but also has an overhead view of the hole on the watch and you can drag a cursor around to find out distances from specific hazards or figure out layup distances. It’s also an activity tracker if you’re into that.

This would more than likely just be a golf watch for me, and the Garmin watch sounds like everything I am looking for. I think the simplicity of the watch is what appeals to me.

I am with Chappy, i'm usually aiming center of the green. But I like what FredsGotSlacks is saying by being able to get an overview of the hole and pick a point in the fairway to see yardages.

I have a Garmin Approach X10. I love it, it’s truly no frills, just distances to front, middle and back. I had a fenix for a while that I used as an everyday watch, but I just didn’t like playing golf with it on. The X10 is essentially just a bracelet. Very lightweight and very comfortable. They also can be found pretty cheap on eBay. I believe I paid $40 for mine.

I use an Apple watch with the Grint app. Gives me all my distances and if I scroll down while checking my yardages it shows how far the hazards are. It's very accurate and after each hole you get to input your score. After you select the number of strokes for that hole directly on the watch it then allows you to input your tee shot (ex. Left, Right, Center, etc.) and if you went in any hazards. Also asks how many putts you had. I like it because I can go back after my round and see my numbers from the round.
