Apologies as I’m sure this has been discussed before but I cannot seem to figure out what Wi-Fi router to upgrade to. What questions do I need to answer before deciding what will fit my need? Not looking to spend $1000 but a few hundred is fine. Just don’t want to spend money and ultimately find out what I purchased doesn’t fit the need.

A few hundred should get you a very good router or mesh system that should cover the vast majority of typical needs.

So, what needs do you have? Coverage area - house size, floors etc? Number of devices? Outside range? Network management tools, vpn, etc?

Just purchased the eero Pro3. It's pricey, but a very nice wifi router.

2000 sq feet single story to cover with about 15 devices connected. Internet speed of 150MBPS.

Google wifi will get the job done based on your home size but if you like to configure and tweak then it may not be for you.

Your use case isn't very demanding. Honestly, any decent current router over $100 is probably fine for the coverage and # of devices.
