I think I found one at a shop that refurbishes them for around $3k. We are remodeling a kitchen so I'm just trying to save a few dollars here and there. Should I look out for anything on a used Subzero? This was the description given on it:

warranty?

Per Sub-Zero, 500 series produced 1987 to 2003, so substantial years on it.

I'd make sure you know the shop. Personally, I'd rather buy the main appliance new and have the warrantees if I were to ever need them. Can you save money anywhere else?

My ex and I gutted my house in SLC in 2006 and she insisted on Bosch appliances. They're expensive, but they have a good reputation so it was fine. The dishwasher never functioned correctly. After six times of having it serviced, the appliance shop just replaced it with a new one. I'm sure they had Bosch pay for it. Anyway, the main point being is that for the main appliance in a kitchen, I'd make sure you're not having to deal with any issues and I'd we weary of any high-end, used fridge.

I have one from 1987, it is a tank. Freezer went out earlier this year (3rd time) and I am not getting it fixed again. I am going to replace it with something new that fits the Subzero sized opening.

Yeah. It was a tank you had to fix three times. What are you even talking about?

To the OP buy a new unit and get the warantee. Its the biggest appliance in your kitchen. Find the savings in other areas.
