Many of us have read over the years that for a team to have a running game, they must make a commitment to it. What does that mean? Keep pounding the rock. I'm not saying just run run run. But just because we gain a yard or less and give up, like we did, especially the first half of the UCLA game, is demoralizing.

Create three or four running plays, and keep pounding it with them. LSU keeps waiting for a running back savior, and running backs cannot excel if the coach doesn't hammer the offensive lineman into tough, rock-hard trenches over and over again.

Even Clyde needed offensive linemen. Until I see some kind of imagination and commitment to attack, I don't care how good the offensive linemen are, they aren't doing anything if the coaches, namely the Offensive Coordinator, are dumb or stubborn as dirt as it relates to a running scheme. Guess what? We had one, maybe two running plays. That's it. That's weak.

It means you must have an offensive line that is not chopped liver.

Maybe if we ran more than one play in the running game it would help.

Exactly. The run plays I mean play we have is garbage. We also need to go under center with Max and throw off play action.

When you run the ball, it allows the offensive line to hit the defensive line. It puts your O-Line in an aggressive position rather than a defensive one in pass protection.

I don’t understand why we didn’t see either freshman get a shot last night. I’m sorry but while I think he’s a good back, TDP’s running style just doesn’t fit the style of offense we’re running. He’s more of a Les type back, toss dive and what not. We need shifty RBs that are good receivers out of the backfield. JEJ and the two freshmen fit that mold. Weird we didn’t see them with Emery out

Yea Les, we should be running into a stacked box that’s blitzing 95% of the time.

I think we need an old time 260 lb fullback leading the block. Maybe a Copeland or Tori Carter clone.

The problem wasn’t lack of running attempts. It was we sucked when we did it.
