What type guitar slides do you guys use?

sounds good, I like one that I can use on my pinky(that's why the weight becomes an issue, but it leaves my first 3 fingers free for playing notes). That inside dia. looks pretty big.

I appreciate the folklore and that's a great suggestion as a source, but I don't like the tone and decay of glass whether it's Corididin and other small medicine bottles and glass slides in general. Then again it could be the thickness of medicine bottle glass, because I have a "neck" cut off an old Dixie longneck bottle that sounds pretty good actually. It fits a finger nicely and the severed end is polished smooth for safety, the problem is the contours of the bottleneck.


My really oddball slide ... I also have an old one-inch smooth surface iron pipe coupler I bought from the plumbing section at Kaffie-Fredericks in downtown Natchitoches 30 years ago. Got it on a whim when an old local bluesman suggested I try one out. The coupler is giant for the finger but the screw teeth inside the coupler gives you decent grip. The iron's mass and its slightly rough surface creates friction that generates gnarly sustain (best word to describe it) as you vibrato with it. It sounds not only different but INCREDIBLE if you can get used to it.
