Were the saints hoping to keep Nielsen until Dennis Allen got a head coaching job?

Seeing these contractual issues it makes me wonder if the saints were hoping to hang onto him until Dennis Allen got another head coaching job. Everything I’ve heard about him is great stuff. The D line has excelled under him too.

No. This is merely the saints trying to enforce a clause in the contract that both parties agreed to in order to prevent a joe Brady situation from occurring. Trust me, the saints do not give a frick about LSU’s role in this

His contract only prevents him from going to a college team. An nfl team could hire him right now and skip the college process.
