Specifically referencing baseball here. One argument is that you “reward” players who play in the Postseason, but it’s still a game that counts. Do people look at career totals and suggest that a difference is because of 162 v 154 game seasons? I understand that applies for a single-season record, but it doesn’t have a major impact on the career.

I feel like if you hit 20 homers in playoff action, that should be added to your career HR total.

You can add them if you want to. All the stats are compiled and you can do whatever you want with them really.

But Bonds career numbers don’t reflect his postseason numbers. Just an example, I’m not a Bonds fan. He hit 762 career homers. His 9 postseason home runs don’t count toward that total.

You also got roided to the gills guys like Bagwell in the Hall of Fame that were down right putrid bums in the post season.

that hurts the players who happen to play on non playoff teams.

I can see that side of the coin.

But it’s not like these players play the same number of years or games each season anyway. They’re all taking varying amounts of off days.

If you play the maximum number of playoff games, it’s 20 games. It’s 20 games against good competition too. You’re not letting some shite reliever come up from Triple A to eat innings.
