LSU quarterback commit Garrett Nussmeier moved up in the latest Top247 rankings released by 247Sports on Wednesday, climbing to No. 200 overall in the country from No. 227.

The four-star out of Flower Mound (Tex.) Marcus slides up to the No. 10 overall pro-style quarterback in the country thanks in part to a strong showing at the QB Collective event this summer.

“Just explosive,” QB Collective instructor Will Hewlett told 247Sports. "He’s grown since I last seen him (a summer ago) and was able to generate a lot of force. Very fluid, very whippy, one thing I like about him is he really thrives outside the pocket. When there is some pressure or off schedule stuff he does a great job to manipulate his body or arm to make any throw.”

Yeah he is now rated 98th on the composite but imo he is definetly better than some of the qbs ahead of him

Criminally underrated by 247. 200th in the nation is laughable.

I didn't realize he wasn't in the top 200 on 24/7
I was thinking he was right around 100 but that was the composite.

"Better" is relative, and he'll presumably get to prove himself on the field. It looks like the knock against him as a prospect is his size. He's smaller that most of the higher ranked pro-style QB's. That's not to say he can't be successful.

There are 3 6'2" guys in front of him (including #1 overall) and he's listed at 6'1.5".

That half inch must really be hurting him.

Also, I've read a few different folks say he's grown so I'm wondering if he's 6'2" or over now.

You are correct. However, that didn’t stop Bryce Young from being a five star (#2 in the 247 national composite and #1 on 247) last year. He was 5’11 and 183 lbs. Passed for 3,846 yds and 39 TDs his junior season.

Nuss is 6’1 1/2” and 182. Passed for 3,788 and 38 TDs his junior season.

The only reasons they put Bryce that high is senior film, camps (almost nonexistent this year), and All American Bowl performance. Young was MVP

Nuss will end up being a top 3 quarterback from his class when it’s all said and done in 3-4 years.

That man is like 5'9" tops, 165 lbs tops. I used to live across the street from Mater Dei.

**he may have grown since his HS senior year though

They're doing the monthly thing right now. This month was the 2021 class that only saw a little movement. Only a few guys moved up. The top 100 had 1 guy move up(Terrain Arnold)which caused about 40 players to drop 1 spot. Rest of the top 100 had no movement up or down. Monkell Goodwine moved up a bit again causing the next 50 kids to drop 1 spot then another Bama commit, Kadarius Callaway, moved from a 3* to #170 causing the rest of the 247 to move down another spot.
Others
Nuss up 27
C committed to Oregon jumped a bit
An athlete committed to PSU jumped as well.
May be another guy or 2.
Next month will be the 22 class.
Looking at their ranks they have a few kids underrated I believe.
Smith not a 5*
Penn 90
Carter 90
Brown 88
Gee 88
Criminally underrating those 4 and Brown, maybe Penn, is not likely to get a chance to improve his.
They're also higher than others on a few guys so a solid balance overall.

Nah even before that. There are some players you just look at and know they are better than everybody else. I remember when he was on the Ducks youth football team until high school. Kid was insane then.

There are plenty QBs every year that they give these high ratings and I wonder, well, I guess they have to give em to somebody. These guys usually are either below average to above average never touching that elite ceiling. They are the guya where nothing truly special pops out Then there are your Justin Fields and Trevor Lawrences (Caleb Williams and Brock Vandagriff this year). 2020 Bryce and DJ, 2019 Rattler, Daniels, and even Nix to a degree.

Kiner is included in that group, 247 has him as a 3-star and 17th ranked RB in the class. Several guys have a higher composite ranking compared to their 247 ranking.
