My mother was a microbiologist and as early as I can remember growing up and speaking with her at the dinner table about viruses, bacteria, and the like, she always said how viruses mutate and adapt, and how one day a pandemic was almost a virtual inevitability. Although the subject matter is nothing new to me, it’s still the reality of it that is still a bit shocking that what once was just talk at a dinner table and sci fi movies is now our very reality of life. Nobody can really prepare you for the shocking reality of real world shut downs and pandemics.

Probably because in 1968 this happened: LINK
quote:
1968 flu pandemic, also called Hong Kong flu pandemic of 1968 or Hong Kong flu of 1968, global outbreak of influenza that originated in China in July 1968 and lasted until 1969–70. The outbreak was the third influenza pandemic to occur in the 20th century; it followed the 1957 flu pandemic and the influenza pandemic of 1918–19. The 1968 flu pandemic resulted in an estimated one million to four million deaths, far fewer than the 1918–19 pandemic, which caused between 25 million and 50 million deaths.

So... COIV-19 kills by instantly clotting your blood and came from a crashed satellite in Utah that was gathering microorganisms from space?
