It was a good movie. The problem I have with it though is that George Jung was portrayed as a sympathetic character, when in fact he was a piece of human debris. I mean a real sack 'a shite this guy.

they also portrayed him as basically being pablo escobars entire distribution network, when he was really just one of the pack of mules

That's really all he was, a "mule". There were lots of mid and lower level guys that got filthy rich at that time. And jung, just like all of them did some deplorable things to people.

Yeah, he was totally loyal and ethical at all times, but was screwed over by his wife and partner who did him wrong. It was basically propaganda for Jung.

This type of story has been told a thousand times better a couple of times since this movie released so I think it makes it feel a little dated or cheesy on a rewatch

I liked this movie, usually watch when it’s on but swear it’s some of the poorest aging I’ve ever seen from a makeup dept. Loitta and his mom look like they just put baking flour in their hair and Depp looks like he shoved a pillow down his shirt.
