I'm kinda going in the reverse of the OP, but what's the consensus on the netflix series from people who've played the games? Thinking about starting it up. Just from pictures I've seen I think they nailed the casting for Geralt with Cavill. Helps that he's a gamer so he's probably played the games and understands the character. Got way more excited for it when I saw that.

I didn't like the casting when announced. After watching it, I like just about everyone.

It takes a few episodes to get going and right when I was really getting interested, the season ended.

Some folks didn't like the sneaky time changes. I thought it was refreshing for a show to force people to pay attention and not browse the web while watching the show.

I'm hoping season 2 has more episodes.

Sounds promising. I'll give it a look. Thanks for the feedback.

I think most people love Geralt and Yennefer. It seems even the book folks, love the Geralt and Yennerfer chapters and get a bit bored with the Ciri story. Same for the show. Drags a bit with Ciri but fun times with Geralt and Yennefer.

You should know that this really is a 3 person show whereas the game focuses mostly on Geralt. The show focuses a lot on Yennefer but in a good way.

She might grow on me but Yennefer is really the only casting job I think they missed on. If she hadn't said her name I would have never guessed it was her from a look or personality perpsective. I'll admit I don't know a damn thing about the books so it might be more in line with that Yennefer than the bombshell in the game.

Edit: Eh, she's grown on me a bit. Couldn't wrap my head around her character at first but it's starting to make sense.

Edit 2: Ok I get it now.

That was a quick turnaround. I really didn't like the casting for Yennefer and fully admit I was wrong. She did a great job.

I didn't like the casting of any of the ladies because I was used to what they looked like in the game.

I'm still disgruntled by Triss because I love me some reds but the actress does a fine job with Triss.

I think most gamers were expecting an older Ciri but the books start with her much younger. I didn't have any problem with the actress. Just felt her story dragged a bit.

After watching the show, I think I like everyone except for.... for.... I really don't like Dandelion much. Most folks seem to like him, but I'm not sold yet.

Yeah, the more her character developed in the first few episodes, the more I realized what they were going for. It makes perfect sense now. I was missing the sass but that ballroom scene won me over.

Yep. Although Ciri felt fine from first glance for some reason.

I had to just come to grips with it. There's nothing wrong with her acting or character, she just looks different. Definitely felt the same way, though. It was hard to convince myself to call her Triss when Triss had already been established as a completely different look for years already.

He's definitely more eccentric in the games, but I don't mind him. He actually got a couple of laughs out of me.

All in all I'm enjoying it so far. They did a good job. I was really prepared for disappointment, but I'm glad that's not the case. Henry Cavill did a hell of a job as Geralt. Absolutely nailed his character.

It depends. 3 is very story driven, but MOST of what you need to know will come in the form of flashbacks, to help establish Geralt's connection (especially to Ciri), but the interactions between Geralt and Yennifer as well as those between Geralt and Triss. I had to look up a few things while playing to understand some of the things they reference.

If you don't want to play the first game, I suggest watching the series and playing the second game. That SHOULD clue you in enough on the connections he forms.
