I’ll say this
As much as people complain about DL not having a role in Aranda’s defense, they ignore that he tries to pass rush with 4 guys and 3/4 usually aren’t getting the job done.
We’ve gotten very little pass rush from the DE position and our edge has been super inconsistent over the years.
2016- Super Key was awesome and we had a top 10 defense
2017- post rehab Key played his way into shape
2018- Chaisson goes down backups combines for 1.5 sacks
2019- the defense is stagnant untill Chaisson starts going off. 4.5 sacks in the last 4 games after having 2 in the first 11.
Our PPG drops from 23.5 to 17.5
We had a significant lack in talent before the 2016 class and I think Our DE recruiting in the 17, 18 and 19 class wasn’t good enough.
Roy was going to be a difference maker whether Aranda left or not.

Im a big fan of Chaisson's dont get me wrong. Just dont discredit how talented Chase Young is. No different than Chaisson, he was pretty much their only elite pass rusher so teams will game plan accordingly. Chase Young had 2 less total tackles, 10 more sacks, and played three less games (2 from suspension and 1 from NC) in a conference known for great offensive lines. They'll both play on Sundays but I think Young just takes the edge.
Id rather have Chaisson because at the end of the day he's a loyal Tiger, but he didnt have such a clear cut dominant performance his last 4 games that Young didnt have.

More specifically, he was referring to the early enrollees.

Are you going to make a multi-milllion dollar decision based on 4 games or the 30 before it?
