Over three postseason games, LSU faced Georgia, Oklahoma and Clemson, teams ranked No. 5, 4 and 3 in the final College Football Playoff rankings. LSU swept those worthies by an aggregate score of 142-63. Over the three games, LSU gained 1,801 yards; quarterback Joe Burrow threw for 842 yards and — this is astonishing — 16 touchdowns.

And here’s the thing: Clemson didn’t play badly. It made one turnover, that coming on its final possession. It pressured Burrow as much as anyone had pressured him, sacking him five times.

Clemson’s offense is very good; LSU’s is transcendent.

No lie, Clemson came and punched us in the mouth. Rocked us for a quarter.

But sometimes getting punched in the mouth is what you need to bring you back down to earth.

“Memento Mori” it’s said that Caesar had someone chant to him.
“Remember, Thou art mortal.”

Forget the hype, forget everything that we’d done in the season...it’s one game at a time, and anything can happen in 60 minutes on the gridiron.

And so that bloody brutal punch in the mouth woke us up and made us remember who we are. The real Tigers. Before the season none of the talking heads had LSU on their radar to be here, but here we were.

We’d faced off every challenge and come out on top. We’d battled through every game we were supposed to lose and broken records on the way.

And so when got a bit bloodied we remembered that on Any given day, anyone is beatable .

But it wasn’t this day. This was destiny. This was a curse to be broken. This was for everyone player who’d been told they weren’t good enough. Every coach who’d been told they didn’t have what it takes.

This was putting it all on the line and proving that the preseason pundits know NOTHING , that all that matters is where you end up. One team, one heartbeat.

You want to be the King, you got to beat the King.

And king Dabo lies beaten, and the real Tigers stand atop the heap

Thought the same thing, like he must have left out a game’s stats.
