Looking for a place to eat downtown in Houston in a few weeks. I’ll be at Texas Children’s hospital for a couple days. Looking for something close perhaps bbq or Mexican, but open to anything.
TIA

Texas Children’s is closer to Rice Village/River Oaks/Montrose than downtown.
That said...El Tiempo is the standard for Tex Mex in the city...couple locations close by...one on Westheimer and one on Richmond avenue.
Here lately I’ve really been enjoying Candente...on Richmond in the Montrose...the birria tacos on flour are some of the best tacos in the city.
BBQ...the Pit Room is closest probably...their tacos are good, however there are better places in the city...if you don’t mind driving a little bit, Pinkerton’s is fantastic.
