I've never really listened to podcasts before, but I'd like to start. Is there a certain site or sites where all podcasts are posted, or are they all scattered on their individual websites? Seems like it would be easier if they were all posted to a central location, but I doubt it's that easy.

Apple curates the largest index of podcasts on the internet. You should be able to download any podcast player and search their directories. Most just use Apple's index.

My podcast player of choice is Overcast.

Isn't Apple doing away with iTunes?

only in the sense that they are doing away with iTunes branding and splitting the app into separate Music, TV, and Podcast apps. They will still run their own podcast directory.

I use podcast addict. Lots of options for customization. Basically you just search for podcasts or dig through lists of genres etc.

I switched to IOS from Android a few months ago so I have tried a bunch of podcast apps on both IOS and Android. For IOS if you want a simple click and listen with no customization or options then go with the itunes podcast app. I hated it but it is what it is. My personal favorite and favorite of many others for IOS is Overcast. IMO it is one of the best-designed apps I have on my phone regardless of function. For Android, I used Podcast Addict. In all honesty, It probably has too many options and customizations that it can cause it to be buggy but the app was the best I found.

I have used a half dozen over the years, including the popular paid versions.

A few months ago I tried out the "Google Podcast" app and it is my favorite.

This should link to the play store

Simple to use, easy to see what is new, what you downloaded. Doesn't take a shitload of space up on your phone. Easy to search by podcast name, guest, topic.

I would recommend at least giving it a test run.

For Android there is the Google Podcast app and you can even use Google search on a computer to listen to podcast now.

In Google podcast can you turn off autoplay yet? I tried it but didn't like the autoplay feature. I use Podcast Republic and have used Podcast Addict in the past.
