I’m willing to bet we sign more than 4. Now there might be some SDE that we sign but it’ll be more than 4. If we sign those 4 it’ll be 5 already with the JUCO guy we just got. Plus LSU may possibly move one or two of the WDEs we have committed to the DL. Depends on how they grow and perform in the future.

The guys we have committed could easily put on more weight and play around 265 or 270. LSU needs to get more athletic on the DL. O and Aranda can see this clearly and are doing something about it. We are going to sign a variety of guys and see where they stand once developed. I said this last year that LSU needed to start looking at a variety of body types and see what fits the scheme best once they are ready to play. Even if we move guys around and play them on different downs it would make our defense so much harder to scheme against. I love it. GT

If you've sen the kid in person, worked him out in person and feel that he's truly good enough, stars don't matter. Of course we want 5 stars, but sometimes you have to look deeper than the number beside the name and see if the kid has a motor, fits your scheme and will work.

I don't believe this for a minute. I think that the coaches see something in Ali and he'll probably make a name for himself here at LSU.

Maybe

But there are two different ways of doing. This and I would rather go with the results-oriented way. Not the project way.

Well who wouldn't but only a limited number of players are college ready coming out of high school. This guy is 6'6" 275 and very fast off the ball. He's got tons of potential. He'll also be ready to play when LSU is going to need him the most.

He was added to 247 recruiting rankings about 45 days ago and is already in the 500s. Translation: he will likely end as a 4 star

If we could beef up with pat Jenkins, roy, Guillory, Lee that would be sick.

I hear Pat Jenkins is all LSU

Let’s hope bama doesn’t frick with us on this one

If he was 2-3 inches taller he'd be a top 10-15 SDE IMO.

No doubt.

Great first step, uses his hands really well, sheds blocks well, finds the ball well.

That first step is unreal. Especially for a 250 plus pounder. From what reports are saying from the camp he has gained weight and even quicker. He could play DE in the 3/4 even though he is a little short. But if he can get to 300 plus he'd be an excellent NG. IDK if it is a committable offer or not with LSU going after so many DT's.

It’s one of those offer if we miss on someone. Let’s be honest.

You realize we signed 2 true DL last year? You win championships on the line of scrimmage. You have to take more than 4 quality DL this go around.

No indeed not. We only have three on the field at the most, and many plays we only have two. Recruiting five players in one year to play 2 1/2 positions is ridiculous. You don’t do that unless you are facing an emergency at that position. And if you are you address it with JUCOs.

Only thing wrong with him is he isn't very tall. But Glenn Dorsey played a 3-4 DE in the NFL for a decade at 6-1, so maybe that isn't a fatal problem.

Drake Nevis was also 6'1.
Let's not forget the original short terror in the Booger Mc who destroyed OLineman at all of six feet.

Yes you do recruit and take many as you can because injuries plays a big role in every season.
