Hmmm...
I live near Nashville and saw that as one comment. It's a fun vibrant city with lots to do, restaurants, bars concerts, sporting events etc., so certainly it could be a good option. 30m or less from Radnor Lake, Percy and Edwin Warner Parks. 1 1/2 hours from "The Plateau" (MontEagle) area where that are tons of trails and waterfalls. A good close by "Eastern option" as would be Asheville.
Me?
The Olympic National Park. Some of the most spectacular scenery in the country. Not going to find a big city to hike out of, and I don't know what Southwest does for you to Seattle, but look into it. We stayed at Crescent Lake Lodge.
Of the above..
I'd like the Boulder, Estes Park or Sedona options for the uniqueness of it. That's if you like "Western style hiking" and all that encompasses. You can drive to Estes Park easily from Boulder if you wanted to as well. Great food/drink scene.
Good luck!

We planned to go over memorial day but it's supposed to snow. Very bummed. May do something over labor day instead

Juneau was an amazing place to stay in Alaska while hiking. There is a lot of history, and points of interest there. Whether you are a long time Juneau resident or stepping off a cruise ship, your perfect trail awaits you. While there I loved the Trail of Time. My only concern was that I should have looked up some proper gear at places like https://huntingfishingplus.com/ or something. Excellent trail for seeing vibrant rainforest away from the tourist crowd. Black bears and salmon are often seen from this trail in the summer months. Just keep in mind that no food or flavoured drinks are allowed on the trail due to bear activity. Only bring water.

Sedona AZ
Southwest to PHX (2hr drive) or potentially Flagstaff (1hr drive)

Yeah, Juneau or Sitka are perfect places to hike, but no SW connection. Only Alaska Airlines. Here's a piece from Trailrunner on Juneau. LINK
But glaciers, wildlife, forest, mountains, sea, history, ice caves, waterfalls.....its got it all. More miles of trails than road.
The rainforest is pretty spectacular too
