An early start time for Sunday's final round, however, means the live numbers are off some

Tiger Woods' first major championship in more than a decade drew strong ratings for CBS on Sunday despite an earlier-than-usual start time. The final round of The Masters began at 7:30 a.m. ET in order to finish ahead of forecast thunderstorms in the late afternoon. CBS began its live coverage at 9 a.m ET/6 a.m. PT and averaged a 7.7 rating/21 share in metered-market households.

Tiger Woods' Masters Win Draws Strong Ratings for CBS

Sunday's live coverage peaked with a 12.1/28 from 2:15 to 2:30 p.m. as Woods was wrapping up his first major-tournament win since the 2008 U.S. Open. CBS says Sunday's final round drew the highest metered-market ratings for a morning golf broadcast since at least 1986, which is as far back as the network's records go. The network aired an encore of the final round from 3 to 7 p.m., drawing a 3.4 household rating in metered markets. It was the third-highest preliminary rating for golf on any network so far in 2019, behind on the live coverage earlier in the day and Saturday's third round (6.0), which was up 5 percent year to year and was the best for round three since 2015.

Do ratings mean anything with so many people streaming now?

Don’t think so. There is a reason why IBM does the Augusta National web platforms for the tournament.

Game of Thrones had an overnight gayness rating of 13.4. That’s one of the gayest things to happen on television in 21 years since the pilot episode of Will and Grace in 1998.

Only 30% of New York city households even had a TV on when the coverage started, compared to 50% by 6 PM.
