I finished this book last night. Its a story of a dog's efforts to keep his family together, told from his point of view. In the face of life altering adversity, it tells the tale of a family rocked by death and a custody battle over his master's daughter. Peppered through the book are anecdotes about racing.

It's amusing, gut wrenching, and at times filled with such a desperate love that I found myself with tears in my eyes.

The book was a quick read; I finished it in 3 nights. But well worth reading.

I loved this book. It was unique and moving. It is also more complex than can be described in a single post. Thedetail of world class auto racing was masterfully done. But the real story was the relationship between a human and his perceptive and empathetic canine companion. This a story for grownups. Highly recommended.

It was. And it was explained in a way that didn't turn off people who aren't racing enthusiasts.

Been on my list for a couple years. Recommended by Sue Fitzmorris who has great taste.
