I was just watching a couple youtube videos on my lunch break and man they have some huge white perch in California. They obviously aren't native, but grow real big.

LINK
Video was filmed in Clear lake. Another lake that supposedly has huge white perch is Lake Berryessa

Have seen a couple the tactical bassin guys have caught on accident over the years, usually massive. I’d assume it’s the same as it is for bass, long growing season and mild extremes makes for big fish.

Might sound like bs, but there's a lake called Bell Cow Lake in central Oklahoma where you can routinely knock down big slabs like that from shore during the spawn and from boat the rest of the year along channel edges. The whole lake is really woody. I only fish there during the spawn but 14-17 inch females are not uncommon. I watched an old (probably mid 80s) lady catch a 4.8 pound slab there three springs ago. It was ridiculous.

Probably due to all the vegetarians and vegans out there.
