My iPad won't update its OS, so I have an issue with newer versions of apps. What can be done to get it to update?
I try to manually update, but message comes up That it is up to date???

It depends on which generation iPad you have. If it is a much older generation, then the latest firmware is likely not compatible with it.

Yep, most likely the above, you are using unsupported hardware. It is done getting updates.

If your hardware won't support the updates then it will not download them and install. You have to update to a newer model. Quite convenient for Apple and the app developers.

I've had Android phones that stopped getting supported updates within the first year of owning them. Obsolescence has to happen at some point as they move on with the OS to new products and app devs do their own thing. It's not limited to Apple. Remember when companies use to want money for each new OS version?
