Anybody else have kids participating?

What can we expect as far as skill level and coaching? I don’t have any expectations as of now because it’s all volunteer coaching but I hope it’s better than what we usually get in our small town rec league.

You talking tiny kids?

Once they get a bit older they may as well play club, it’s not that competitive.

No, 11 years old.

One of my kids seems talented enough to play club (though we’ve never seen him against good competition so who knows) but it’s much easier around here to focus on baseball.

Wait, are you saying that club isn’t very competitive?

My boy is 12, and he’s played against most if not all of the Lafayette/Broussard clubs, though they vary in talent year to year. I think any decent athlete could play if they worked on technique on their own. Now making the Dynamo A team may not be a reasonable goal his first time out, but it doesn’t hurt to play on one of their developmental squads.

There are other clubs too.

It’s just the right timeframe now...U12 is a perfect age to pick it up before the full size fields. I’m sure everything in life changes in Jr High too, what he wants to do and all.

There should be some summer camps to really get him going on the right track.

Can’t hurt to play Rec, the club coaches will check in on them from time to time to see if there’re any gamers out there. My boy was playing Rec when a coach approached us after a game. Soccer is strange sport, some kids blossom when the whistle blows.
