Basically, im wondering if a mulching blade would make any difference if i dont have a mulching kit (don't really want one) or should i just stick with standard high lift blades?
Gator blades pretty good?

I use Gator blades on my Exmark and I think they cut better than stock blades. But to tell the truth I haven't found a set of blades that had the same stamping as the originals that came on the mower. So I'm sure the replacements I was buying were not OEM blades.

Why not get the mulching kit? Just curious because they do an awesome job and you never have to really worry about throwing stuff and breaking windows, and they take like 10 minutes to put on. But to answer your question I would imagine something along the lines of a gator blade would help the cut even without the mulching kit.

Yeah i've contemplated it, but my yard is full of thick arse weeds and the only other time i've used a mulch kit it bogged down pretty bad and i ended up have to mow the yard twice.
Maybe the mower was not powerful enough though. Right now i just blow my clippings to the neighbors empty lot next to me.

We pulled the mulch kits off our mowers, we use mulching blades (lots to choose from) but we use Gravely and we added a chute blocker. Dropping the chute blocker with mulching blades does a really good job at Mulching maybe not as good as a mulch kit but doesn’t bog down and if it does we can raise the chute blocker.

I used Gator blades on my push mower when I lived in a subdivision and had a smaller yard. The difference in cut from the standard mulching blades was massive. Much better cut and considerably cleaner too.

Mulch blades throw the grass up instead of to the side like a 3 in 1 know as a high cut blade.
Gator, extreme, and or sand blade are very aggressive cuts and they throw grass to the side like a 3 in 1.
If you use a mulch blade it will work better with the plug to keep the grass inside the deck to chop it up finely.
