If they are searching for particular people, then I think they should be able to look.
However, if the hotel registry is merely a fishing hole for ICE to look for illegals, then I am opposed to this. As BHP said, they are looking at records of legals as well, prospecting for illegals.

This doesn't sound like a Hispanic crackdown to me but rather a Canuck crackdown. Those Canadians are coming in by the thousands.
