Really like this guy as a person, but he dug his own grave at the end of his days at LSU by not getting out of his own way. Hopefully he gets another shot somewhere outside of the SEC because if he does build a more modern offensive system he has a chance to get his new team up towards the top.

This keeps getting repeated but there's no evidence that it's true.

correct. the fans lied to themselves on that one. after the 2015 aTM game he said "the engine was still pretty damn strong" or something like that.
i am praying nebraska takes him on to offset the buyout, but i seriously doubt he ever coaches at a power 5 school again. maybe a MAC school will take a flyer on him.

There is a reason he is former coach Les Miles
It's not even worth talking about anymore

Just read it and draw your own conclusion.

New drills, playbook additions, upperclassman QBs: LSU’s offense is changing, coaches and players say By Ross Dellenger rdellenger@theadvocate.com Mar 24, 2016 - 7:39 pm (0)

Following a dramatic and eventful November, Miles and athletic director Joe Alleva agreed the offense needed to change. Miles said LSU’s staff would study successful passing offenses and would alter the way it practices the passing game during spring drills.

So they studied film on good passing teams, incorporated new practice routines and drills, and added plays and formations into the playbook. Cameron also came down from the booth to the sideline.
Sounds like lots of change to me. How did he lie?
It may not have been as successful early in the season against the strongest defenses we faced, but all those changes paid dividends when we got to the weak defenses in October and November, excluding Alabama obviously.
Or did you think Ensminger just installed an entirely new offense in a week after the Auburn game before Missouri?
Again, I’m not seeing a lie anywhere?
Perhaps you foolishly believed that those comments meant we were going to completely change to a spread or fun and gun offense in an offseason, but that mistake is on you, not Miles.

Yes there is. Look I love les but he stated that he would open up the offense and Throw more. But then he back tracked and said with LF that u don't change. So he was wishy washy

miles failed in three specific ways that caused his firing.
Failure to recruit the top offensive and defensive linemen in the state since 2012-2013
Failure to recruit Dak Prescott
Giving Brandon Harris a scholarship

Wonder who they were.

You can't have watched the Ensminger-called games without noting a profound change in the play calling and overall offense. I've no idea whether any of the plays were "new", but I couldn't recall having seen many of them before, and never in that order. . .

I assumed the comments to mean there would be a change in philosophy/play calling, since that's what he said would happen, but didn't. I did not hear something from Miles that was not actually said.

I'm still waiting on quotes from Miles stating this. It's not like there's a lack of interview dialogue from him.

The question: Will you contemplate a serious overhaul of your offense? “The serious and overhaul with the offense ... does that include Leonard Fournette?” he asked. “Would we take the running game from the offense? Oh, OK then. So basically it’s not a serious overhaul because the motor seems to be pretty stinking strong.”
quote:
“Do we want to consider change? You betcha,” Miles said. “I think ‘serious overhaul’ is appropriate but would be a little much.”

Miles and Cameron are close friends, having worked together at Michigan under legendary coach Bo Schembechler, but Miles recently has questioned his own offense. After the loss to Ole Miss, he said the Tigers offense needed “to be adapted, to be fixed and adjusted.”

It got "fixed" alright. Les snipped its nuts off.

I don't think anything there supports this idea that he was going to roll out a new offense.
