What are your thoughts on this guy? His personality, coaching ability, dedication to LSU, ability to judge other coaches?

He seems like a good dude.

Good dude who has no desire to be an OC permanently.

Which is a shame.

He’s not in good health.

I don’t know.

Yeah I figured that would be an issue but I think he could be a good AD.

Exactly. He's loyal and devoted and very good at what he does. But he has absolutely zero desire to be a coordinator. Said it takes too much time away from his family. I can respect that.

As AD he would still have time with his family.

And he wouldn't have to be on the road recruiting.

Nobody on this board could possibly know if he's remotely capable of being a decent AD. Odds are heavily stacked against it. At best, he would need to work up to that post and not jump write to it.

I think he should be in a conference room with Canada, his assistants, and Orgeron right now going over exactly how he attacked defense's at the end of last year, and tent should all be figuring this thing out. What he did last year was exactly how I saw the offense should attack defense's. It's what I thought they would do this year but with different personnel, and the added motions/shifts.

It's obvious to me that Steve knows how to attack a defense, how to disguise the offense and what route combinations work. It was an extremely successful offense. I would have that man a part of my plan and I would've had him in on the structure of my offense to begin with. It's time to get creative, the staff must do what they have to do to get this right. We can be effective. I have no idea what they are doing at this moment. This game is not as difficult as they are making it seem. This is almost the exact same problem Les Miles had. There was no deception, no tendency breaking, and the route concepts were too long too many times. We can't be afraid to go over the middle and we should have more WRs running across the field at different levels as well as more screens, and throws in the flats. We need more run plays from shotgun, and we need more PA after being successful with the run. We need more PA on first down, we need more passing on early downs, and we need more mixing near the RZ and EZ. LSU has to take advantage of our big WRs in 1 vs 1 coverage. This offense just needs to be more multiple, while doing things it normally wouldn't.

Canada did this all the time at other places, and why he's not here blows my mind. Why Etling doesn't anticipate his passes more is beyond me as well. Sometimes he does sometimes he doesn't. I think it might be more of the WRs just not getting their heads around but the coaches just have to simply teach this shite. Jump balls, back shoulder pass, reading the defense's blitz, double moves to an open area, just basic back yard football. That's what LSU needs to get back to, simple back yard football and not put so much pressure on themselves to get every step right. Your 6'6 235 lbs, get open and go catch a ball. Bring that WR guru back. Get Ensminger in the meeting rooms and fix this mess. The defense would respond IMO if this happens.

Something else I never understood about coaches is that sometimes a player plays better during games so just because that player is performing better in practice doesn't mean he will in the game. Culp has some nice kicks and Gosiline has proven that pressure kills him. Let Culp give it a try, at least from short for sure. He looked much more smooth and accurate when I saw him kicking in the games and that could have made the difference in this last game. There has to be calculated risk taken to win games. Something needs to change Orgeron!!!
