How ugly will the situation between Alex Rodriguez and Yankees get?

New York Yankees team president Randy Levine on Saturday challenged Alex Rodriguez to release his medical records to support assertions by Rodriguez's lawyer that the Yankees had misled their $275 million third baseman about the extent of his injuries in the hopes Rodriguez would be unable to play again

"Alex should put up or shut up," Levine told ESPNNewYork.com in a telephone conversation Saturday afternoon.

The New York Times published a story Saturday in which Joseph Tacopina, Rodriguez's new attorney, alleged Levine had told Dr. Bryan Kelly, who was about to perform hip surgery on Rodriguez in January, "I don't ever want to see him on the field again."

"We will put up, mark my words, we will put up," Tacopina told ESPNNewYork.com on Saturday. "[Levine] is always a very big talker, but he is going to be humbled eventually. He is acting in a way that if his bosses and superiors and the Steinbrenner family have any sense of decency, if they are true to what the Yankees' heritage is, they would be appalled with how their president is acting. We will put up."

Asked if the relationship between Rodriguez and the Yankees was now irreparably damaged, Levine said, "I still think Alex is a good player in a tough situation, and he continues to make the wrong choices in his life. I just wish he would start to make some better choices."

This is all a money issue. frick the Yankees for trying to weasel their way out of the horrendous contract they executed years ago. You can bet your arse they wouldn't be pulling this shite if he was tied to the Biogenics scandal and was on the cusp of the home run record.

I hope ARod gets all of his money and sues the shite out of them for defamation of character. It will never happen, but one can dream.

I agree. I'm not an A-Rod fan but frick the Yankees for throwing their own player under the bus because they were stupid enough to give him that contract.

Player is a lying douchebag who threw other players, including a teammate, under the bus, to take heat off himself.

Alex Rodriguez isn't helping the situation....

If he would just shut up and play he would still get his paycheck but instead he wants to make the matters worse. If he really did leak the information on other players then guess what he just cost himself that contract as he will get the lifetime ban.

Is this a fact, or just hearsay? I know Alex has denied it.

Why does leaking info constitute a lifetime ban?

This is all just the Yankees trying to distance themselves from the contract as well as distance themselves from the PED issues.

We all know A Rod is a joke. What we are learning now is how classless the Yankee organization is as well.

Thats an MLBPA issue. Not a MLB issue.

Not allowed to reveal players who are being investigated/suspended for drugs, until certain procedures are followed. That goes for MLB and MLBPA.

According to the CBA, any allegations of PED use are to be handled privately before a player's name is made public. If A-Rod and/or his associates gave MLB investigators documents including Braun's and Cervelli's names, that would be a direct violation of the CBA.

Now I am not sure if this could lead to another suspension or if this will allow Selig to come down harder on ARod.

This...

Lets be honest, the Yankees are just pissed they got to eat this contract. I sort of have a new respect for "Take Money".

That's why Selig is handling this the way he is. He's trying to save the Yankees as much money as he can.
