They are. Most of the time it will be in summer. There are hundreds of humpbacks and if you are on a cruise, it's guaranteed sightings. Orcas, plentiful but much more stealthy. They call them seawolves for a reason

You will see some awesome stuff. If you like whalewatching, and don't see many close up sightings form the ship, take one of the excursions from Juneau. They only last about three hours and guaranteed to see humpbacks.

We can usually see them from the road north of town any time we drive out.
