Grantland on Best PnR Defense in the League

Zach Lowe has great stuff on how the Bulls defend PnR.
LINK
He states that the way they defend is different from most teams. Something to compare when the Hornets defend the PnR. The Hornets have been awful defensively, but most of the guys are not sure what they should be doing on defense yet.
This quote stands out to me
Hornets need more talent, but more than that they need the young guys to mature as professionals before they can become even an average defensive team.

The rest of the players are more limited defensively, but they follow the rules all the time. They know the game plan, the opponent's game plan, and the opposing personnel, in part because Thibodeau drills and re-drills all that stuff during famously detailed shootarounds and practices.

There's no reason Davis can't be a really good pnr defender. Could be wrong, but it doesn't seem like he gets put in those situations very often.
Everybody attacks Lopez, which is understandable because he can't move his feet at all. The combo of Vasquez/Lopez is a problem, to say the least, trying to guard a pnr.

Definitely. But teams go after Boozer for the same reason as Lopez. Vasquez doesn't help things, but Nate Robinson isn't a great defender either.
I think the Hornets can overcome a lot of their deficiencies with a better understanding of the system Monty is running. Especially once Davis gets his sea legs and can play the helper/eraser role he did at Kentucky.
