thread/full concerts by genre

for some classic rock throw in:

Hendrix Rainbow Bridge

ELP

Tull '78 MSG

The Who Isle of Wight

Bangladesh Concert

Stones Gimme Shelter

Faces 1972

having seen so many of these get worn out, decline, and only be a shell of their prime you forget they were actually pretty hot at one time (Rod Stewart, Ian Anderson, etc)

Sabbath brought a truckload of degeneracy to rock at a crucial time, when the music was under the sway of Malibu hippies, sensitive folk singers and art rock bands. Sabbath was hated by rock critics the same way as Grand Funk, the difference being that Sabbath didn't give a frick, arguably because none of the band members could read. I remember an interview of Ozzy in the L.A. Times way back in the early 70's, in which he said he was happy to see fans stumbling around their concerts loaded on barbituates and wine. You have to admire a band with such an intense and even visceral bond with its audience.

I've seen this concert footage before; nice stuff.

Sabbath was certainly one of the heaviest hitters back in the day. If ya only know worn out 'n senile reality show Ozzie ya need to look at this early stuff.

Warm spot in my heart for Paranoid. When buying it, did acid, and waited an hour before putting it on the very first time. Still memorable that many decades later. Fairies do wear boots indeed.
