Just heard that Donald Ray Kennard, longtime lawmaker & LSU Football spotter, has passed away this morning at 73.

Mr. Kennard was a very nice man who would gladly talk LSU Football with anyone he met. I ran into him fairly often out in Central. I especially remember him proudly showing us his 2003 National Championship ring- which he wore with pride.

Our prayers go out to his family and many friends; he will be missed.

RIP

God bless his family. Fortunately he passed peacefully His sleep. He will be remembered and appreciated for his contributions to the football program and the university.

Sad news. My condolences go out to his family. I worked at the Capital for a bit when I was in school and would see Mr. Kennard around. He was a good Legislator and was always a very friendly, personable guy. Big LSU supporter too.

So sad to hear. Mr. Kennard and his family are wonderful. Mr. Kennard was very good friends with my Dad when my dad had a car dealership and used to provide Mr. Kennard with a demo back in the late seventies and early eighties. Will certainly be missed and his family will be in my prayers. God Bless.

remember him fondly; one thing is certain, drk would definitely step up to help any lsu athlete w/ academic issues. i was subjected to a really rough time in a math test - prof arrived 25min into a 50min test and told everyone - "tough beans"

when i met w/ drk after the test to complain, he summoned the math prof - a boyd prof no less - and chewed him out

of course, discretion dictated that i drop that class :)

He was a real friend, a good man, and will be missed. He and Miss Camille used to host the Governor and legislators for a picnic each year, which grew to over 700 people before he retired, an event in which I was honored to participate. He was a rare breed, an honest man AND a politician. He will be missed.

May God bless his family, and give them peace.

he was a faculty representative/advisor for the LSU basketball team in the mid 60s .. most notably the freshman team when pete maravich was a freshman in 1966-67 .. had some great stories about the pistol and the old cow palace ..

He was a nice man.

Our baseball season tickets were near his seats. He had really lost mental acuity the last two years or so. He'd go to the concession stands and then couldn't remember where his seat was.

I'd go looking for him and sure enough, he'd be on the wrong side of the infield looking for his seats in the grandstand. He'd laugh and just say, "I get confused sometimes."

He was proud to show anyone his 2003 BCS National Championship ring.

I'm sorry to see him go. Nice man who represented LSU well.
