So logged in the Entergy app and noticed that while I am using less my cost is still running high.

I did the math and Entergy is now charging 15 cents a kilowatt hour.

Earlier this year, I figured out the cost to be around 9-10 cents a kilowatt.

That is an increase of a 6 cents per kilowatt.

Luckily, I did level billing other wise I would be pretty close to the 400+ dollar club.

My bills have been around the 270 range with level billing. Last month before the 35 dollar storm restoration charge, it would have been 385. With the charge it would have been 420.

Here is an idea instead of doing a scheme with the United Way to offer bill credits how about suspending or eliminating the storm restoration charges.

Our use is on par or lower than last year, yet our bills have all been much higher. When I call they have no explanation.

The explanation has to be fuel charges being higher and storm fees

There was a thread here one night this week complaining about Entergy bills in Louisiana…mine here in Mississippi was about normal, but some folks there had some ungodly power bills.

There are 4 components to your Entergy Bill...Energy Charge, Fuel Adjustment, Storm Restoration/Misc, and KwH used.

The Energy Charge per KwH remains pretty static...about $.083 per KwH
The Fuel Adjustment per KwH varies month-to-month, and was $.061 last month.
The Storm Restoration charge had been running about $.004 per KwH until June when it tripled to $.01345.
Those three components total $.158/KwH (almost 16 cents per KwH), with the most volatile of the three being the Fuel Adjustment charge. That single item, which nearly doubled since May (had been running about $.035/Kwh and is now over $.06/KwH) rivals the Energy Charge ($.083/KwH) as the most expensive component of the monthly Entergy bill. While it is a monthly adjustment, don't look for any real relief until natural gas prices begin to come down.
In summary, your only salvation at the moment is the opportunity to lower your kilowatt consumption...but that is easier said than done. Raise your thermostat as high as you can tolerate, turn off every light you're not using, and try to be more efficient with use of the clothes dryer, dishwasher, and oven (any appliance that uses heat, if you're all electric). Other than that, there isn't a whole lot you can do.

You'd know the answer if you'd have paid better attention when you were young:

This. I'm on levelized billing, and mine has been staying around $180 for the past three months.
I'm waiting for that levelized to level out.

It's not the rates, its the add-on's, gotta have window etching, ceramic coating, extended warranty, etc.

I wish Entergy would line item that rate.

I understand if that rate changes each month. I hate how they just figure your total as the energy charge and just throw it on the bill while line itemizing other charges like fuel adjustments and Rider charges.

At least in Texas, where you pick your plans you know your base rate.

Just like if you use not electricity, they will still charge you minimum for having a meter installed.
