sky blue paint

Agreed. I don’t know why it works, but it works.
Ferrel Calhoun has a color called dirt dauber blue. I used it on the ceiling under my back porch about 10 years ago and haven’t had a nest since.

The insects think the ceiling that is painted sky blue...is the sky and they don't land there....amazing, but true!

Get a wooden carpenter bee trap that has a glass jar on the bottom. I was at a garden nursery today and they had about 10 of them hanging from their front covered porch. They were all almost full of mostly dirt daubers and wasps and some bees. There were hundreds of dead wasps, dirt daubers and carpenter bees in the glass jars. I think the traps are basically just a small square wooden box with a mason jar attached to the bottom. A simple hole the size of a carpenter bee hole is drilled in the side and bees, wasps and dirt daubers are attracted to the hole. I'm not sure what kills them once they are in the box. It was pretty impressive.
