Just saw them in Houston. I am old enough to remember the original run but was in HS when Long Run released. Never a big fan but never hated them either. Always enjoyed Don Felder version more than the Bernie Leyden version.

The good:
- Henley’s voice was dead on
- backing vocals and harmonies were perfect...almost too perfect
- sound/mix was first class
- No Don Felder but the guy filling his role got most of the tasty licks and nailed them.

The bad:
- no spontaneity or improv.
- Joe Walsh mugging got old fast (to me at least) although he played well
- everything expensive...corporate rock show all the way

Surprised that there was no mention of Glenn Frey or picture on the video screens or anything. Wasn’t expecting a tribute but seemed odd to me. Vince Gill attacked the role it like it was always him.

When you think about it Don Henley is the only original member.

I saw the Hotel California tour in Vegas a couple years ago and it was incredible. Vince Gs voice imo is a great addition but it’s simply not the same without Glenn F. I’m glad I saw the Hell freezes over show in Laffey many years ago, they were tight af that night.

I saw Hell Freezes Over in San Diego in 1994ish. I was in the nosebleeds, but it was still an amazing experience.

The last show with Frey was Bossier City. Wife and I saw the North Little Rock the night before.

Saw them twice. Once in like 95 and then again about three years ago when Deacon Frey and Vince Gill had just joined the group.

I have to say they were better (much better) with Gill and Deacon a couple of years ago.

I agree with you on Walsh. His schtick is really old.

The OG Eagles were Frey, Henley, Leadon and Meisner. When they added Felder, they went to a 5-piece. When Leadon departed, Walsh replaced him.

Schmit replaced Meisner (as he had when Meisner left Poco to join the Eagles).

The 7 members inducted in the HOF were Frey, Henley, Leadon, Meisner, Felder, Walsh and Schmit (despite Schmit only being around for 1 album during the classic era).

If you are a hardcore Eagles fan, you almost think of them as 4 lineups: Founding, Plus Felder, "Hotel California" and "The Long Run/Hell Freezes Over". Personally, the Hotel California lineup is my favorite. The band with neither Frey nor Felder sounds increasingly like, "Don Henley and friends present the Music of the Eagles."

Sorry, not sorry.

thats exactly what it is.
no different than "bob/billy/mickey & friends present the music of the grateful dead". if you like the music its a pretty much guaranteed good time, but they aint "the eagles"

The Eagles, LLC was wryly accused by Rolling Stone of “loitering on stage” back in the 70s. If it wasn’t for Joe, they may not have a pulse at all.
