I’m also an old timer who had fortune to hunt tensas before the refuge. Grew up hunting Bengal Hunting club around big lake with our camp on the Tensas. The memories and stories I could tell. It was a paradise. A big mud hole when wet, but fun as hell.

When I was a kid my dad was friends with a guy who owned part of Spring Bayou Hunting Club, it butted up to what is now the refuge and I think the family donated some of their land to the refuge if I'm not mistaken.
We would see 50-60 deer day at times and all kinds of wildlife, it was awesome to hunt their after hunting N Louisiana most of my life
