Keeping Kiffin after a ten win season is huge. I could see him staying there for a long time. The SEC West got even tougher, but with his offense they will always be competitive.
let's see how he does recruiting
I don't think he has the work ethic necessary

We are expecting to take about 16-18 kids this year. Going to take about 10-15 kids from the portal
Mullen had 247 convinced that he won the portal last off-season. How did that work out for him? That’s a much riskier game than recruiting and not a long-term strategy for success.

Agree, a hundred percent, however, we lose a lot of starters. The only way to keep up the momentum would be to go heavy transfer portal this year.

This cycle is just getting warmed up. The downstream dominos have barely started. OU is still in play and Miami will likely open up. If they get Christobal, then Oregon is open. Good luck fending either of them off.

That’s not how you build a stable program if you are a big-time recruiter. The portal is for plugging a couple of holes or re-stocking after a coaching change. Using it as widely as you are talking about is a strategy for smaller programs looking to grab guys who didn’t pan out at larger ones.

College football is changing. Plenty of G5 talent that want to be seen in the SEC and top 5-10 programs with talented guys who want more PT. OM fits perfectly for both scenarios. We really are a sweet spot for the portal. Get HS kids who will play in year 2. Other than that get G5 upperclassment and top tier program leftovers who want more PT. It worked this year like a charm. No reason it wont next year and the year after too.

Or it’s how schools like Oklahoma stay competitive every year. They took like ten transfers last year

He will bail for a bigger job within a year or two.
If Lane can learn to stay off Twitter for a year, he’ll land a blue blood gig next cycle.

What "Blue Blood" will be open next cycle?
Bama
UGA
USC
Oklahoma (I will feel better when this is filled)
Texas
Ohio St
Michigan
Oregon? (maybe this cycle. it is a concern)
Auburn?
Penn St? (hell no)
FSU (lol no)
Miami (cant afford him)
Clemson

The ACC has a good TV contract now, so their admin CAN afford him if they want to spend on the program. The question is whether they do or not.
If they are even considering taking a run at Christobal, then it means they are now. If the job doesn’t open up- same old Miami.

lol no they don't. They put 15k people in their stadium 20 miles from campus. They ain't got it chief.
They get less than half of what the SEC gets.
