Funkie Atmosphere at the game....

So I got some killer seats on the 50yd about twenty rows up and they were great seats so I was pumped, but the atmosphere just seemed funkie. Like people were mailing in their jobs as fans. It's wierd, never once felt that way at any other game, even some blowouts. Almost like there was a cockiness in the stands like MSU wasn't supposed to be in the game. Anyone else feel that way?? Was it just not an exciting game to most?? Personally, I'm into every game and it seemed like I was sitting on an island.

I think thats a good way to put it...I felt like I was on an island too, everytime I yelled/clapped.

It was the worst atmosphere I've ever seen for an SEC game in Tiger Stadium, and yes, I'm including the Hallman years.

The man sitting in front of me went and got a police officer because the woman in front of him was standing up. Seriously. She wasn't provoking him or being disruptive or anything, simply standing up during a play. I thought it was the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen.

Good to see I wasn't the only one. For a second I thought I may be too passionate about LSU football. If I could trade, I would have given up those seats to be in the student section. Good thing I'm going back and getting my MBA next year.

maybe we need a changing of the guard of the Tiger Fans...
i propose that if you went to the MSU game, give your tickets (for the rest of the season as well) to someone who didn't go...
i'll take 10, preferably in sections 102-104, 20-30 rows up...

Absolutely feel the same way!!!!!
I brought (2) people into Tigerstadium for their first time. (One was a Bama fan/other was Ohio State fan)
I was extremely dissappointed how everyone seemed so bored in this game. The stadium was never so vanilla for an SEC game with a full house!

I tend to agree with your assessment.
It is not just all about the football anymore.
--People are more concerned about their tailgating than the game itself.
--More people are coming to the games to "see and be seen" rather than rowdily cheer the team on. While I totally support Skip and everything he did, LSU football is becoming more and more like all sports in that the average fan is being priced out. I would love to replace a lot of the "socialite" fans with blue-collar coon-asses who would kill for the chance to come yell their lungs out at every game.

Combine these...and you have an atomosphere that can be below what it used to be.

Somewhere along in the game early in the 4th qtr I remarked to my seat buddies that in the 50's and 60' and even into the 70's the stadium got louder and louder as the Tigers poured on the points.
No more. It was really a down atmosphere all night save for the students who were, well loud. Not their best game for sure but hell, they were present and accounted for themselves well.
We are spoiled. A lot of it has to do with the stringent restrictions on alcohol. Most flea to their tailgates when games get out of hand nowadays. We use to just reach for the flask and sit back and holler louder.

I noticed it during tailgating as well. When we were walking around campus me and my friend were wondering what the hell was going on. It was lame.
I would still rather be on campus and in the stadium for a lame atmosphere than any where else.

My Wife and I were talking about this after the game. To us it has felt like this every game this year. Maybe so kind of post Hurricane blahz....to emotionally spent to feel much at the game.
First two games were Hurricane junk. The AU away and this week clouded by all the economic crap.
It will be different when UGA is here.

Actually it does, indirectly. If you maximize profits at LSU for the near term, you will necessarily erode the LSU brand for the long term.

Like a library in Tiger Stadium; nobody wanted to watch the game, but the snackbars did a great business. First time I've seen it like that in many years. I kept thinking back to the VaTech game last year and how different it felt in the stadium. Also, lots of strangers around a few of us season-ticket holders so figure that alot of regulars must've sold their seats to newbies....just awful!

It is somewhat odd that the majority of LSU students seem to live in luxury apartments these days.
