That’s actually true if you do some reading. The 5 families had to check in with him before they sent someone down here or made a big move.

Seriously, read up on it. It’s fascinating. I did it probably 10 yrs ago and was blown away by it. His right hand man lived down the street from me when i was a kid in Slidell, and it made me curious.

Without a doubt. Included in the Apalachin meeting so you know they respected what he did.

That was just a code of conduct NYC had. They would do the same for the mobs in other cities.

There wasn't nearly as much to skim off of in NOLA as compared to NYC even when you factor in there being 5 large gangs in NYC.

Also, this is ridiculous. They did check in, as it was etiquette, but Marcello was installed as the boss of the NOLA family by one of the NYC families and some of Marcello's most lucrative arrangements were given to him by that NYC family. The Genovese family treated the Marcello family as an extension of their own.

That equals very important. Equal to Chicago or KC I’d guess, but more respected.

Did he have to “kick up” to anybody in NY? If I’m using my mob terms correctly from movies and TV?
