CELLULAR DATA What’s the deal with switching between WiFi and cellular data?

Have Verizon now (previously Sprint) but problem hasn’t changed…
The phone (iPhone 13) never seems to be able to figure out how to get online when I leave my Wi-Fi area…. Cell data is on, but it’s terrible and doesn’t work. Sometimes turning Wi-Fi off seems to help, but not always….
HELP!

Possible your phone is at the edge of wifi coverage and is still trying to use that for its data connection instead of the cell data, but the wifi signal is too poor to work. If you see a wifi signal that looks basically empty or an x or something that may be what's going on. Or maybe your cell service sucks

A lot of internet providers rental modems have the account holders main channel and another generic, open channel to allow other subscribers to use their service away from their home. Anytime I pass someone’s house that is also an Xfinity subscriber, my phone recognizes the signal switches over to WIfi. But since I’m not logged into that service, the internet doesn’t work. PITA.
