I've rarely heard someone say they bought one too big. I have heard several people say they regret not getting a larger grill. Do with that what you will.
As others have said, the Weber Kettle is a very versatile charcoal grill at an affordable price. It can do most things the ceramic grills can, though not as easily. Smoking low and slow takes some trial and error, and it can't get as hot as the ceramic ones can. Everyone I know with a ceramic grill swears by it, but I just can't justify the price. I have a Weber gas and charcoal grill, along with a Weber smoker. Between the 3, I can do pretty much anything. The kettle gets the most use.
