I am considering spending some time in Barbados, and would like some personal recommendations, dos and donts, and any other information that prevents me from making a horses arse out of myself and guest. Any help is appreciated greatly.

The East coast is rocky and wild, the West coast is the leeward side of the prevailing winds & seas.

They drive on the wrong side of the road.

It’s pretty safe there.

Harbour Lights Restaurant (Link) just South of Bridgetown is OK for a night.

I spent Mardi Gras week there in 2017.

Barbados is very "British." It's civilized. When a drunk panhandler approached me, a cop suddenly appeared and then shoved the guy down and told him that he'd better not bother any other tourists.

I really like the beach south of Bridgetown where the Hilton and Radisson are. I stayed at the Radisson there and was very happy.

I also spent two nights at the Fairmont Royal Pavilion (back when you could get two nights from having the Fairmont cradit card -- I certainly couldn't possibly pay $1249 per night). While that resort was great, the beach up there near Speightstown wasn't as nice.

Harrison Cave is a decent daytrip. You go through the cave on a tram. The house where George Washington lived as a teen is also very much worth your time.

If you stay down by the Radisson or Hilton, you really need to get some of the breakfast fish sandwiches at Lefty's shack -- I ate breakfast there almost every day.

As the other response said, the west side of the island is where all the cities and resorts are. The east side of the island gets big waves and is where the surfers go.
