He had a shite defense last year, but he would not be 7 & 2 if his defense was shite this season and he would also not have beat LSU if his defense was shite.
I mean, Lane Kiffin is the coach of the year in the SEC! Why? Because he turned that train wreck in Oxford into a contender in less than two seasons.
Of course, if Kirby wins the natty, Kiffin won't get it. Nonetheless, no one will deserve it more than Lane Kiffin.

He currently has the 104th ranked defense in the country after having the second to last ranked defense in 2020, which i guess is an improvement.
They aren't 7-2 because of their defense.
