On one hand you’ve got a liberal democrat with one conservative view - anti-abortion (somewhat). On the other hand you had two Republicans who share almost every other belief Republicans have - who were also pro-life. But yet republicans voted for Edwards.

Makes no sense.

Know a lot of baby boomers around here who vote this way. It's pretty common in Louisiana and kind of explains why we're last in everything. Super liberal on economic issues (pro regulation and other things especially if it helps them) but will vote Republican because of the abortion issue. Some of my parent's friends voted for Carter,Clinton, EWE, Blanco (mostly because they were racist) and JBL also voted for McCain,Romney, and Trump.
