Cedar Shake Roof- S Louisiana

Pretty sure some areas don't allow cedar shake roofs on houses. Check with the building codes in your area if you're dead set on one to be sure you can install one.

I would think just with the chance of hurricanes alone would negate any reason to install a shake roof. They do not seal like asphalt shingles do at the tar strip and only attach along the top where they are nailed.
