Those are absolutely mechanisms part and parcel to the American dream.
But that's not really relevant when talking about someone who has obviously had many, many more successes than failures. This wasn't even in dispute until he became bad orange man.

Successful: Real estate, book, his TV show.
Failure: Everything else.
