Yet another blind link...

I simply fail to understand how, in 2021, people still use this term.

I'm sure in the past, there was a such thing as a blind link but, in 2021, every link can be previewed without clicking.

Moreover, giving a link a descriptive name is meaningless. I could link midget porn but call it "CNN Admits there's Proof Obama used Intel Agencies to Spy on Republicans".

That link would be every bit as "blind" as the one you're complaining about.

Thank you Wasting Time!

In my years of posting here I have never seen a poster type out (and I most certainly have not) type out "Breaking News - Trump to announce whether he will run for election at news conference" and clicked on it and gotten something like animal porn or an ISIS website.

I think that paranoia here has come over from the regular Off-Topic site where people were doing that years ago (especially with the "Rick Roll" joke) but people don't do that here. I don't get the worry especially since people can see exactly where the link will go before they click on it.

I just presume people on this page on this boards are adult and courteous enough to not do rick roll crap. Plus other post blind links all the time.

Here are examples and for those of you who are wondering these are links to other pages on this very same tigerdroppings board.

1) Not everyone views TD on a computer with a mouse. Many of us are on iPads or mobiles.

2) “Blind link” is used on this board loosely and encompasses not including a quoted portion of the article in your OP.

3) No topic should ever be started with just a link in the OP. A quote from the linked article or a brief description of a video should be included in the OP when starting a topic.

I simply fail to understand how anyone who’s been on TD more than a minute cannot grasp this very simple concept.
