Coming from BR, best route, IMO, is 61 to Natchez then 65 to Pine Bluff, 530 to Little Rock. You WILL see cops in: Vidalia, Ferriday, Clayton, Waterproof, East Carroll Parish (the worst), Reed, AR and Gurdon, AR, sometimes Gould, AR. Despite that, you can make pretty good time.
To stay: I believe the team is staying at the Peabody. Downtown is nice (Peabody, Doubletree, Capitol, Marriott Courtyard, Holiday Inn Presidential). West Little Rock has most of the hotels with an Embassy Suites, Crowne Plaza, another Courtyard, Springhill Suites, etc. and you'll have more chain restaurant type options out there than downtown. There is a place right across from the stadium called Markham House Suites, I think primarily used by people with family in nearby hospitals, but I know a few posters here have stayed there. There's also a La Quinta close to the stadium but you are getting into a bad part of town there.
The stadium sucks, you'll laugh at it, but hey, there is some semblance of tailgating there and you are getting to watch the Tigers!

Two years ago, my wife and I made a special point to drive as slowly as possible--and I mean SLOW--on the way to the game for this very reason...and we still got pulled over by an officer in a small town for (allegedly) going 20 MPH(!) over the limit. I'm not really sure how he could have zapped us with a speed gun since he was driving towards us when he made the observation that we were "speeding". Anyone know how he could pull that off with an accurate reading?

I'm in Lafayette and may try that route (only adds about 50 minutes. Going up through Texarkana sucks.
