Yes it did. Balls Gio would have gotten to dropped for base hits. The guy is fast. Speed increases the catch radius. When you put a slower guy in the outfield you might not see any obvious errors, but you will see more base hits.

We can split hairs here; but just because they were lacking someone a little speedier that theoretically may have been able to get to a few more balls over the course of a season doesn’t mean the defense was bad or even subpar.

Not to mention, while I agree Gio is fast, I more than once have seen him take bad angles to balls or get bad jumps because of misreading the ball off the bat. So he may get to some because of his speed; but he also misses some because of his less than stellar instincts at times.
